ASTM F1554 is the specification for anchor bolts or anchor rods that designates three grades 36, 55 and 105, each with different chemical properties and yield strengths. Originally introduced in 1994, the ASTM F1554 specification covers bent anchor bolts, straight anchor rods that are either headed or headless from materials that are carbon, carbon boron, alloy, and high-strength, low alloy steel.
F1554 anchor bolts can take the form of either headed bolts, straight rods, or bent anchor bolts. The three grades 36, 55, and 105 designate the minimum yield strength (ksi) of the anchor bolt. The bolts can be either cut or roll threaded and a weldable grade 55
The term S-1 or S-1 Supplement is taken the ASTM Specification, F1554. In Anchor Bolt manufacturing, the F1554 specification is the rulebook. Of the three grades, Grade 55 is the only one the S-1 supplement applies to. It assures the grade 55 steel is weldable.
